The oblique is AKL Architects' most characteristic gesture — the diagonal that interrupts the orthogonal grid and introduces movement, tension, and spatial surprise. In this villa, the oblique is not ornamental: the entire volume is rotated against the site grid, creating acute and obtuse angles that generate unexpected spatial configurations within, and a dynamic relationship with the landscape without.
No room is quite rectangular; no view is quite frontal. Light enters obliquely, settles obliquely, and leaves the same way.
The house insists on keeping its inhabitant slightly off-balance — in the most pleasurable and spatially awakening of ways.
