Project summary
The project is an addition to an existing house in Reyfoun, a villagein the mountain, 30 min far from Beirut.
An addition is a conversation between two moments in time. This project manages that conversation with care — the new volume distinguished from the existing house by its material expression and contemporary geometry, yet responding to the older building's proportions and spatial rhythms.
The junction between old and new is treated as the most important space in the composition — a threshold that holds the two parts in productive dialogue rather than forcing them into false unity.
Expansion becomes the occasion for a more complete architecture than either building could achieve alone.
The project is a joint- venture between Akl Architects and Reine Irani Architect.
