Project summary
The lodge is the most primal form of mountain architecture — a shelter that declares nothing beyond its essential purpose. This version strips the typology to its structural and spatial core: timber frame, pitched roof, deep overhang, and a single open volume that gathers all of mountain life under one roof.
What distinguishes it from its alpine precedents is the precision of its detailing and the deliberateness of its relationship with the surrounding trees — each element positioned to frame a specific view of the forest, to channel a particular quality of light.
It is a modest building that has understood exactly what modesty requires.
