Project summary
How would the kitchen in 2067 be?
In order to answer to this particular question, we should start by analyzing the current situation and defining what would be the real concern:
Is it lack of space? Size of the apartments? Number of partially used functions? Waste of areas?…
A kitchen in 2067 should be conceived in a compressed system, having a multifunctional and minimalistic shape.
It should manifest an elegant design, pure lines yet simple and refined esthetics.
Similar to a Mysterious Monolith “2001: A Space Odyssey”- by Stanley Kubrick- the Kitchen would rise from the floor towards the ceiling, such a sculptural installation, unusual in its presence.
Smart and “In motion”, it should fit the equipment in a compact way and in a Minimalistic footprint.
The “Transforming Intelligent Machine” would follow the owner’s specific vocal commands.
The “Monolith” would be composed from two main elements:
- The vertical “Shaft”, supplying/ evacuating/ ventilating technical core linking the kitchen to the public main network.
- The “In motion” variable superposed boxes containing the equipment/ cabinets/ storages…
These two parts would form the 2067 Kitchen.
Evolving/ Rotating/ Sliding hidden functions would appear and disappear, shrink and expand depending on the different usages.
The minimalistic and changing shapes would contribute in redesigning the space allocated to the Kitchen.
Conceived in a 160x120x280 cm3 parallelepiped, it can be equivalent to a 300×240 cm2 contemporary kitchen.
With a capacity exceeding 5 m3, the futuristic kitchen would integrate the interior programmatic functions with a minimalistic approach.
Glossy and shiny white Carrara marble would cover the external shell, while black matt metal or titanium would compose the internal casing, contrasting the outer skin to the inner shell.
