Project summary
The Slit
The project is located on a sloped terrain with a 10-meter elevation, and consists of 2 houses, the parent’s and the children’s. On the higher point of the site is located the parental residence which uses the roof of the children’s residence as both a terrace and a connection to it.
The journey starts facing the Giant Wall. Inspired by Petra, a slit in the wall serves as the main mystical gate, leading to the inner core of the cladded mass.
On the main façade the project boasts a strong mono-materiality from local stone that imposes itself with a strong statement, the slit in the middle, the entry through the mass, that directly leads onto a mystical Musial residential space.
A play of patios, slits, walls, slabs and volumes, create the whole spatial experience that can be called the residential museum.
The entire project is a magical spatial sequence, defined by the unstable equilibrium.
This complex residences become a series of stone monoliths emerging from the ground, built in local materials, dominating the top of the hill, following the sloppy topography, offering multiple sceneries and suspended gardens, patios and shaded areas.
