Residential Extension — A Dialogue of Stone and Steel
This residential project is conceived as a contemporary intervention atop an existing stone house, where new architecture does not replace the past, but elevates it. A corten steel volume is delicately positioned on the upper floor, linking the ground and upper levels while establishing a clear architectural contrast.
The existing stone structure, defined by symmetry and regulated proportions, forms a grounded base rooted in memory and permanence. Above it, the metallic volume introduces a reflective, dynamic presence—lighter, sharper, and deliberately contemporary. Together, they create a spatial journey that unfolds between solidity and lightness, heritage and innovation.
Rather than mimicking the existing architecture, the extension magnifies it. The contrast between stone and metal becomes a narrative tool, transforming the house into an unexpected contextual composition that dialogues with the past while projecting it into the present.
