Collective Art Residences, Beirut — A Dialogue Across Time
Set within the dense urban fabric of Beirut, this residential complex is conceived as a dialogue between past and present, where contemporary architecture grows from an existing historic house rather than replacing it.
The project integrates the old structure as a living anchor, allowing its arcades, proportions, and spatial rhythms to inform the new intervention. Oblique geometries, slanted walls, and carved openings reinterpret the arches and arcades of the heritage house, translating traditional forms into a contemporary architectural language.
Layers of concrete act as architectural curtains—filtering light, framing views, and recalling the depth and shadow characteristic of Oriental architecture. These layered façades create a porous threshold between private life and the city, blending memory with modern living.
Together, the two buildings form a unified urban landmark—an architecture that neither imitates nor erases history, but transforms it into a new collective identity for Beirut.
