About Us

Akl ARCHITECTS is an award-winning Lebanese architecture firm based in Beirut, founded in 2016 by Akl Akl. The practice is structured to manage projects from initial feasibility studies through to execution drawings, bill of quantities, and site supervision. Our goal is to develop concepts and architectural approaches that are tailored to each client’s needs and are contextually relevant to the specific program and site.

As we believe, “Our role is not to impose a singular architectural image, but to respond to our clients’ needs by creating bespoke designs that address all aspects necessary to enhance our final product.” We view architecture as a thoughtful solution to a variety of complexities, including programmatic, spatial, environmental, financial, and social challenges.

Akl Akl earned his Master’s degree in Architecture from ALBA – University of Balamand in 1999, where his diploma was honored with a prestigious award from the Order of Engineers and Architects of Beirut.

From 1999 to 2004, he worked at KA Architects in Beirut, overseeing a variety of projects of different scales.

In 2004, he co-founded AB Architects with Patrick Boustany, establishing an architectural design studio dedicated to exploring a new, emergent contextual architecture. Over the past decade, the firm has transformed into a dynamic, cross-disciplinary team, successfully undertaking projects across various countries in the Middle East and Africa.

In 2016, Akl launched his own independent studio, Akl Architects. Since 2003, he has also been a faculty member in the Department of Architecture at ALBA, where he teaches Architecture Design. Beyond his architectural pursuits, Akl is passionate about painting, creating a diverse body of work that includes numerous paintings, drawings, and sketches.
